Do you know how I can add conditional code to my template, the way it will not count my own hits when I am logged in?

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem there is a simple way to exclude your own visits from Google Analytics logs. You could use StatCounter, which uses a cookie based identification to exclude your visits from report.

I can't thank-you enough. I really am computer illiterate and when I read I had to put a code just before "body" etc. etc. etc. I had no idea what any of that meant! Why can't google make things as easy as you did? Thanks again.

Coming to your question on why google didn't make the instructions more simpler, I could perhaps only guess that they must have thought that someone like US would write a better, simpler and more useful tutorial than they can ever write and that's why they left the job to US! ;-)

Thanks for your helpful post. However, it seems that I am still having trouble with getting the analytics to work. It's been over two weeks now and I have tried adding a new page element and putting the code directly in the HTML with no luck. The only thing I can think of is that I have Quantcast HTML in the page as well. Would that mess things up? Should I delete it? Thanks!

After your comment, We checked if ,we faced any problems with google analytics. We concluded that the above written tutorial was 100% correct way to install google analytics on blogger blogs.

The only thing was that it took around 48 hours to collect the data. Our guess is that maybe you did not install the code properly. please follow the tutorial EXACTLY and give us your URL, So that we can help.

I could not follow these instructions because my "Add and Arrange Page Elements" screen does not have an "Add a Page Element" choice, only has "Add a Gadget" which seems to be different.

I was able to understand how to paste the code before the /body tag, but google analytics shows nothing, even after 24 hours, so I thought I would try a different method of adding the code. Oh, well, at least some people got this to work.

Drat!. The comments petered out right when it gets to the meat of the problem. The only way for me to do this is to go to the edit HTML thingy.

There is no Add Page Elements.

There is only Add a Friggin' Gadget which only lets you put in a URL

I've tried three different lines of code supplied by Google. All are broken after saving. The " marks change to QUOT.

I enter the code just before "body"

I think this is because it's XML or something like that.

In short, nothing works for my blogspot blog:

Is this a known issue? If so, I can't find out much about it. Bleh.

everyone, following this tutorial, remember that google/blogger has changed the way HTML/Scripts can be added to blogger, that's why this tutorial is a "bit" outdated and perhaps you're getting only a "Add a Gadget" link instead of "Add a page element". Follow this tutorial, to add HTML/Scripts to blogger.

i have 2 blogger accounts. i followed the instructions and was able to install analytics to only one of the blogs. the other keeps coming up with a yellow triangle error symbol on analytics telling me that my tracking was not installed. i've tried deleting things and starting over, but nothing seems to work. does anyone have an answer? the google analytics help forum didn't help at all!

Solved the issue, re pasted the code, must not have picked all the code up the first time. Since re pasting code is gone from home page. Please note my blog says ADD A GADGET others are using the term "page elements" Can confuse the user given they might be using different versions.

Thanks for the update, Blogger™ had renamed the "layout" link to "design", Hold on, the latest interface has the "layout" link, Still,for now we have updated the link as you have suggested.
